Have Camera - Need Permission To Take Photos
Aug 10th, 2007 by Don Ray
I have gotten into the habit of carrying my camera everywhere I go. I never know when I am going to see something that is of interest to me. Sometimes I go to a location planning to take photos, such as when I last went to Parque Cervantes, but normally a photo opportunity just occurs.
The other day, I went to Super Baru and was greeted by this sign at the entrance door.

It says that you are not permitted to take photos or film inside without permission by the management. To me this is a major annoyance. As I said above, I usually don’t know beforehand that I want to take a photo. If I come upon something of interest, I may lose the opportunity if I have to track down the “management” and ask permission.
This policy is an improvement over ARROCHA’s policy. ARROCHA says that no photos are allowed under any circumstances. You may remember that I repeatedly tried to get permission to take some photos in ARROCHA during the last Christmas season.
What I find myself doing, when I run into this unfriendly attitude, is looking for stores with a more progressive philosophy. I can understand banks not wanting you to take photos inside their facilities, but when the average store is concerned about photos, I start thinking they are not too proud of their store.
Just the other day, I had a reader tell me that they had sent the photos I had taken of the El Rey supermarket to their friends, in the US, so they could see what high quality supermarkets were available in David. El Rey is proud of their store and it shows.

Hi Don Ray:
You (or I) have another picture problem. Instead of a picture, the only thing appearing on your site is a question mark.
It was my problem. I lost a photo.
It should be fixed now.
