David Yahoo Group Get Together

Posted by Don Ray on Aug 10 2007 at 11:05 am

Thursday not Wednesday is the day that the David Yahoo Gringo group meetings takes place. I know that, but Wednesday, I forgot. Maybe I knew that I needed a dry run to know where the El Fogon restaurant was.

I will tell you that Wednesday was a better day weather wise. It rained like a son-of-a-gun on Thursday, but it didn’t dampen the get together.

This was my first time to go to El Fogon. I understand they have a new location that they will be moving into. I wasn’t very hungry, but I did order a cheese burger to have something to evaluate. I think I have written before, that I am not all that fond of typical Panamanian hamburgers. In fact Lee, over at Boquete Guide, has been on an expedition to find a good burger in Boquete.

In David, I still think the best burger is at TGI Friday’s, but El Fogon wasn’t bad. The meat was thicker than the Panamanian burgers I am familiar with and it had a good flavor and was not a hockey puck. I thought a burger I had at Hotel Iberia the other day was fair, but this was better. The plate with fries was around $2+. My burger was good enough for me to consider returning when El Fogon moves to their new location. At that time I will post its location.

I seem to have infected you with the burger search. :) We are still questing for the best burger in Boquete. In fact I think we need to start again; that picture inspired an appetite.

Well, good burgers are not the easiest things to find in Panama, from my experience.

Hello! Just a hint, here in David you may try Las Brasas, on Red Gray Avenue ( to the airport) , a few meters after the Sacred Heart image, on the left. The owner, Mr. Eloy Fong, is a mining engineer whose “mines” are hamburgers! They accept credit cards.

    Best regards,

I’m kind of sorry to hear that El Fagon will be moving. This was a great place to escape the madding crowd while enjoying a cold one.

I understand that the new place will be better and is close to the current location.
