xD Reader Doesn’t Work

I have finally diagnosed that the xD memory reader that I got with my camera purchase doesn’t work. I tried it with all operating systems (UBUNTU Linux, Apple OSX, Windows XP) and none recognize that there is any data.
I therefore conclude that the reader is the problem and will have to find another to try. The Olympus camera transfers at USB 1 speeds on the Windows and OSX and that takes too much time. I haven’t solved the UBUNTU Linux not being able to read from the camera, so currently all new photos have to be read into the Mac to be processed.
I solved the problem with the Windows PC so I am now moving on to the problem of reading the camera’s data from Linux.
By any chance does your printer have a card reader built in? If so, does it have an XD slot? Just a shot in the dark.
No, but maybe it is time to up date printers!
