No one knows what’s next, but everybody does it.

Upgrades In And All Photos Moved

I believe that the flaws with the move to WordPress 2.2 have been corrected. I have all photos now in the correct directories and the appropriate posts pointing to the new directories. The photo move will mean that Google Images will send a lot of folks here and they will get a 404 message since the photos are now in a new location. I also installed the latest version for the Chat facility.

I now have a new challenge. I went to a special lunch yesterday and took photos and videos. On Windows XP I always used Movie Maker to edit the videos and prepare them for uploading to YouTube. Now I need to learn if there is a corresponding program for producing movies on Linux.

I have no idea where I’m going, but I’m making great time.

Website Upgrade Status

WordPress has now been upgraded to version 2.2. The Photos migration is complete through the year 2006. The Photos migration is complete through the year 2006.

I can see a couple problems in the Sidebar and the title and will be working to correct those problems.

If you find any photos that do not open or if the Blog behaves different than you think it should (other than the obvious sidebar problem), please drop me a note.

My current Plug-ins appear to need to be reloaded and that will take me some time. The worse problem is that all of my Spanish characters are displaying incorrectly and I don’t see an easy way to fix that except on a word by word basis. UGGG!

UPDATE: My web host was able to change the setting in WordPress and it appears that the majority of foreign characters are now appearing as they should. This is the first WordPress upgrade that I have put in that altered the character settings. I really don’t know what happened.

The Sidebar Plugins I lost were actually Text blocks and I will just rebuild them as I get time.

Swimming is not a sport. Swimming is a way to keep from drowning. That’s just common sense!

This Is Very Interesting – Part 2

Today I talked to the very nice lady that had sent me the email the other day that I wrote about in “This Is Very Interesting“. She had to do a little creative work to figure out my phone number because I sent it in a way that only a Chase Representative would know out how to contact me. She said she would place a note on my account with contact instructions for Chase if they need to contact me in the future.

Without being asked, she told me that she really didn’t know how they learned of my website, but they are always looking for ways to improve customer service and my post had been brought to her attention.

She gave me her personal direct number to call in case the problem, I had experienced, occurred again. She credited my account with the late fee charge and even put $500 Reward points into my account for the trouble. Now you can’t beat that for customer service.

This has been an extremely pleasant experience. If I remember correctly, some one else commented the other day that they were also having troubles getting their authorization code from Chase Rewards. It is possible that the Chase system is having a problem that is happening randomly. My recommendation is to contact Chase if you are having this problem. I know from experience that some computer problems are hard to diagnose.

Thanks to the lady that contacted me from Chase. You have renewed my faith and your contacting me from a Blog post is still boggling my mind.

Life isn’t like a box of chocolates. It’s more like a jar of Jalapeños. What you do today might burn your butt tomorrow.

Notice and Request

Over the next few days (possibly months), I am going to do some reorganization of photo directories on my host’s server. I am letting you know this because it is possible that I will screw something up and posts that did have photos may wind up having a bad link and a small graphic square will appear.

My request is that if you come across any posts that have a graphic, implying that a photo should appear, and there is no photo, I would like for you to send me the post’s URL and I will research the problem.

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE:

My process is to create new directories on my host’s servers and move the photos into directories by year. A single photo directory have become too large.

The next step in the process is to copy photos by year in to the appropriate directories.

Then I have to change the pointer in each post to point to the new directories.

I have moved all Blog photos for years 2003, 2004 and 2005 into new directories, updated the corresponding pointers in the posts, and I have deleted the photos from the single photo directory.
