Where Will You Be When The Music Dies For The Second Time?
Apr 29th, 2007 by Don Ray
I was saddened when I learned today that the Copyright Royalty Board made an official ruling in late March that will hike royalty rates by 300 to 1200 percent, retroactive to January 1, 2006.
This irresponsible decision will kill all sites such as Pandora and Slacker. For more information, see the following site which has been put up to explain the problem and give you tools to voice your objection. http://www.savenetradio.org/index.htm

Don Ray,
This is indeed disturbing. I went to the site and found out that my Representative, Dr. Ron Paul, is already signed up as a cosponsor of H.R. 2060.
Hi Tuxi. Disturbing indeed. For someone like me it is a real depressing situation if Pandora and Slacker and the like die. I get so upset with the music industry I could just spit.
Hi Don:
I had been following this story at AccuRadio, which is another radio Internet station that I listen to regularly. I had no idea however that a ruling had been made by Congress.
How can they do something like this? Do you think that pressure from calls to the Representatives or Senators can stop the ruling? In my opinion, musicians–in the final analysis–will feel the pinch of this wrong legislation.
Thanks for opening my ears and eyes on this thorny issue.
Regards,
Omar.-

Omar - We will see. If the new artists are smart they will bypass the big music business and strictly distribute on the Internet They can cut out the middle man.
Thanks Rob. I put it in my reader.
