The Rainy Season Appears To Be Here
Apr 6th, 2007 by Don Ray
Based on the rain that is starting to appear in the afternoons, I would have to say that the rainy season is beginning. In David, it was down right cold last night. I usually sleep with a fan running and last night I had to shut it off.
Along with the rainy season, I change my flying habits and no longer take any flight that is in the afternoon. The mornings are usually very nice and flying is no problem. However, heavy rain in the afternoon can provide problems either in taking off or landing.
I can already tell that some areas that weren’t green are now changing color. Some people hate the rain, but I have loved it since I was a small boy. Luckily the rains here and never associated with the hail that I sometimes saw in the US.
I prefer the rainy season and I guess that is good since it makes up about 3/4s of the year. I guess I better make sure I have my umbrellas pulled out and that they are all working.

Most of the people I have talked to who live in Panama prefer the rainy season: less windy, more green. And we north Americans tend to think that rainy season means it rains all the time, as in the Pacific Northwest; but as you know, that’s not the case at all! I think “green season” might be a better description.
You are correct Sylvain. In the US I think the rain is associated with preventing people from doing something they want to do. Here in Panama, it slows no one down and brings out more beauty and sweetens the smell of the air.
Thanks for dropping in.
Hi Don:
In Panama City the rain is coming back after being absent for too long. The trees are growing new leaves . Soon, we will have a rich green carpet in our yards.
Summer (or “verano” as well call it) is nice for a while, but after a few months its too hot and the continuous fires brings a rain of ashes into our homes which filters through the windows and under the doors.
Yes; I also love the rainy season.
Best Regards,
Omar.-
Hi Omar. Thanks for dropping in. I agree with you. I like the rainy season the best. I will be in your area before too long. I will give you a call.
