One thing that I brought back with me from Costa Rica that I really wish I had not is a good case of chigger bites. I remember getting these as a kid sometimes in Oklahoma, but I have been fortunate not to have gotten them many times since.
Discretion prevents me from providing photos of the affected areas. These nasty little critters can really do a job on you. Thank goodness for calamine lotion.

Clear fingernail polish on the spots will kills the chiggers by suffocation. Might be fun getting them treated. Jan

I have enjoyed reading your posts and stories. I also am an Okie, and have recently been made aware of pros and cons of Panama.
We are (like a lot of other folks) planning trip in April, and from what I have read we’ll want to investigate the area of Boquet for retirement/winter residence.
Just wanted to let you know your writings as well as from Lee have been very enlightening with straight forward explanations of life in Panama.
