Biblioteca Publica de David
Feb 6th, 2007 by Don Ray

I have seen the Public Library several times and have never taken its photo or stopped to look inside. Today I did both. This library is located on the street behind the Municipial Building pictured below.
I asked if they had any books in English. I found out that the only English books are dictionaries. While I was there they had a large room with long tables and a large number of young children taking an art class. They also had another large room with terminals connected to the Internet and the charge was 25 cents per hour. I forgot to ask if they had a connection to hook up a laptop. It is unlikely, but they might allow you use a LAN connection that one of the PCs is using, if you are able to configure your laptop.

Hi Don! Your blog is excellent, it brings back many memories of my town. The library that you mention used to be the main train station for the Chiriqui Railroad that was built in 1914. This railroad stretched from Puerto Predregal, to Boquete and Puerto Armuelles. It was out of business in the 60’s. The building across the street from the library is the old town hall, that is now in use by the judicial branch.
Hi Marcos. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Yhat is interesting information that you provided. I have seen some of the evidence of the previous railroads in Boquete and at the David fair grounds.
Thanks for dropping in.
