Dental Esthetic Opens in David in Plaza Mallorca

This morning I noticed a new Dental clinic. It is called Dental Esthetic and is located in Plaza Mallorca of the one way street that intersects with the Interamerican highway. If you got on the one way street close to the David Municipal building, you would go about 2 blocks.

I visited with Doctor Miriam Rodriguez to find out what all she did. She does dental esthetics, which is whitening of the teeth, periodontics, implants and orthodontia. For me I am interested in the whitening of my teeth. After years of Dr. Pepper and Coca-Cola my teeth have taken on a yellow color that I really don’t like.

After talking to Dr. Rodriguez, she told me that I should be able to accomplish a change of two color levels. As luck would have it, in February she is having a two for one special and two people can get their teeth whitened for $120. This is not one of those take it home kits, but you make an appointment and she does the treatment in her office. This is a good deal, since the normal price is $250 for one person. February isn’t far off and I think I will give myself a valentine present.

The office is new and it has a friendly waiting area.

This is a very professional office with very good equipment. Here are the folks you will get to know when you go there. Haisell on the left is the dental assistant. Dr Miriam is in the center. Omaira is the office manager. All good people to deal with.

I enjoyed visiting with Dr. Rodriguez. She said her English was not very good, but between her English and my Spanish we did all right. She was a very pleasant person, and I am sure you would like her.

Here is a brochure I picked up. This will be another Spanish practice session for you. Oh, if you stop in, tell you learned about her on Chiriquí Chatter. You may email her at miriamperio@hotmail.com. The office phone number is 730-2826.

  1. Does she do back massages too? Straight up no hanky panky, I need one, they cost way too much here in the states, In San Jose I found a really cute Tica charged me with tip $8.00. Thats the first thing I’m going to look for in Panama City.

  2. Hello Don,

Does Panama health care system has health care insurance that you can purchase by paying monthly like in the US for the whole family?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi Don Ray,

Does Dental Estetic mean they do cosmetic dentistry? In particular porcelain caps? If not, do you know of an office in David that does? We have been searching on the internet, and have found nothing in that area, but a number of places in San Jose’.
We will be coming to Panama in November and would like to get some dental work done then.

  4. Hi Shrader,

I don’t have the complete answer. Here is what I think I understood from talking to her assistant. Dr. Rodriguez primarily does periodontal work and some other general dentistry. However for some specialized needs, she has a dentist come in once a month from Panama City.

When I get a more complete answer back from the dentist, I will post it.

UPDATE: Dr. Rodriguez got back to me. She has an associate, that works with her in David, that does the porcelain cap work. This work is usually scheduled on Thursday mornings in Dr. Rodriguez office, but, with prior arrangement, it can be done at other times. The price for each cap is $300.

  5. Can you let me know if she is going to have any specials in July. We will be in David for about 26 days. I can get my teeth whitened while I’m over there. Thanks lots

  6. She has the 2 x 1 special often, so there is a fair chance that she will have it or some other promotion. If you go in, tell her you read about her on Chiriqui Chatter and you would like special CC consideration. 🙂

  7. Hi there Don,
Do you know of a holistic dentist in David or anywhere in Panama? Or a SC dentist with an open mind, to work, as close to a holistic approach as possible here.

    Thanks

  8. Does she do teeth implants? My front bridge fell out after 10 years. I never liked the bridge. I want implants. Probably need 4. Expected cost? Thank u

  10. “Hello Don Ray, your family and all CC bloggers. Given the demand on frontal teeth composite change, there is a bonus in October:just pay 1 for 2. If the composite is older, has undergone color changes, or have plaque underneath, the client will know it by feeling certain discomfort to sweet or cold, provided there are two surfaces that involve these changes in the whole teeth jacket. Love to all. Any doubt, please e-mail me and I´ll try to answer as soon as possible.”

  12. I agree! Dr miriam and her staff are excellent she has brand new technology and it didn’t hurt at all, now i have a bright smile and no cavities thank you Dental Esthetic and thank you chiriqui chatter for recommending this excellent dentist…

  13. Hi I am going to Greece for a month in october after a few U2 Concerts, but I have about 2500.00 put away for three implants, how much would that run Don, and thanks very much for your blog.

  14. Hi Ken just spoke to Dra. Miriam and she said that each implant costs $1,200 but that depends on a few factors please call her office to set up a free evaluation 730-2826 its possible that you can get away with using 2 implants and a bridge and meet your budget…and get your smile back!

  15. 1200???? well that isnt cheap at all, in fact its about the same price as the states. Thanks for your info regardless

  16. Hi Ken. My advice is to talk to the Doctor in person. Anyone that has lived in Panama very long knows that many things are negotiable.

Whether this is a good price in Panama or not, I can’t say.

I can say that the dental care I have had at this clinic has been the best care I have had in the US or in Panama.

To-date, no one that has gone there because they learned of the clinic from Chiriqui Chatter has had anything but good things to tell me about their experience.

  17. This has absolutely nothing to do with your blog but, there is something very odd about your picture at the top of the page. The guy on the sidewalk looks like he’s 13 feet tall. Kinda funny…..

Great info on the dentist. Thanks!

  18. Thank you so much for your prompt reply.
I have one more question. Do you know how long does it take for her to have the crown ready? Here takes three weeks and I will be in David for 14 days. Do you think she can do it? I know that I may be pushing it a little bit, but it would be awesome if I can get it done before I leave. 🙂
    Thank you!

  19. Hello all,
I came from Slovenia and found this practice on the internet! Been there 4 times, seen by 4 different dentists and I am over-impressed! I need quite a bit of serious work. The first job was a root canal that cost $ 150, no pain whatsoever afterwards and awaiting a new artificial tooth. The second doctor finally (because 3 other dentists in Europe could not) explained to me why the old artificial tooth kept falling out every year for the past five! The artificial tooth was too thick (front to back) and with every bite the bottom tooth pushed the upper tooth forward – finally the top (artificial) tooth cracked and broke off a piece of the root at the bottom and got loose and fell out.
Made sense but more importantly, I am now looking forward to getting something much nicer that…….. will stay in place (or so I was assured – with a bear hug 🙂
I used to be the biggest chicken in the world – no more!

  20. Hi Don, enjoy all your web work. Maybe you could do an update on dentists since much of the stuff on your blog is 4 years old? I am here in Chiriqui for several weeks and need a good dentist to do some crowns. So far, I had two done in the states at $800 each (cheaper than many dentists there charge), but my dentist says I need 5 more and that will break the bank. I’m 75 years old so money is a factor. Could you give current recommendations? Appreciate it, muchas gracias!

  21. I document who I use and have personal knowledge of. My personal dentist is Dra. Miriam, who is in this post. Her English is marginal, but I like her professionalism and quality of work. If you follow the history with her, I have had crown work, root canal work and more.

I also posted http://www.chiriquichatter.net/blog/2011/06/13/medical-and-dental-clinic/ not long ago. While I have not used Dra. Serrano, I use her cousin as my personal physician. Dra. Serrano has a good reputation as well. She speaks English.

Before I needed perodental work, I had used Dr. Barraza and liked him. He speaks English.
    http://www.chiriquichatter.net/blog/2005/11/29/gracias-to-all-that-recommended-dr-octavio-ortega-barraza/

I am sure there are more good dentists in the area, but these are the ones I have used and feel comfortable with their work.
