What A Great Game
Jan 21st, 2007 by Don Ray
If you missed the Colts vs. the Patriots game tonight, you missed one great game. It was so good that even the terrible pixilation I get on channel 53 couldn’t ruin the game. The Colts came back from being down 21 –3 to winning 38 –34. What a game!

I’m not a big fan of pro football, but I am a big supporter of running back coach Gene Huey. Go Gene, Go Colts!
Er, Don Ray, if you remember where I’m from, you’ll know I didn’t think it was a great game.
It is sort of neat that the Super Bowl this year will be won by an African American Coach.
>I hate football but I flipped on the tube and saw the last 4 minutes (All I ever care to watch) Yea it was a THRILLER! Most games are a blow out! Oh by the way Its the African Americans that have ruined the game for me! I don’t care if that sounds racist, the circus freak show that football has become has totally turned me OFF! Can’t wait to see all over the Web and the Tube, the next perverted STUNT they will pull this year at the super bowl!
Well, My husband and I are long suffering Bears fans, so the thriller for us was seeing the Bears play their way to the Super Bowl. Bears-39, Saints-14. Sweet!
Gordo - I also have become much less of a fan of all pro sports than I was 40 years ago. Non the less, it was not a normal game.
Tom - Sorry that the game didn’t go your way. Neither of these teams have been favorites of mine, but you still have to respect that comeback.
SE - I don’t mind the theatrics that have become a part of the game. What has soured me on pro sports is the fact that these guys make so much money, are heros to the youth of the world and are such bad roll models.
I remember one of the running backs I always thought was a clean cut person was OJ. Then look at his history. I think more are on drugs or in trouble of some nature than are real positive roll models.
The sport needs more Emmitt Smiths and fewer (you pick your favorite million dollar bum).
Kathy - The Bears sure did sink New Orleans. I remember the Bears back in the day or Refrigerator Perry. The Super Bowl may actually be a good game this year.
Living in Massachusetts, you must know how I feel….
KK
Out in the cold!
So who do you have for the SuperBowl???
Being from Chicago, all I can say is– BEARS ALL THE WAY!
Reed - The Cowboys. I am just not sure what year.
Laural - I would expect no less from a person from Chicago. Based on the way the Colts came back, it may be one of the better games this year.
Having gone through KU at the same time as Gayle Sayers, I had to become a Bears fan when he went to Chicago–a team which then had two great players, a running back (Sayers) and a linebacker (Dick Butkus), just not enough to overcome having Bobby Douglas (also a KU grad) as quarterback. In 1969 Sayers won the rushing title and the Bears had a 1 & 13 record. I became a Little League baseball fan.
Great story. Last sentence made me laugh.
Frank: I was thinking the other day that the one “old time” ahtlete who would be as good today as he was back then is Gayle Sayers. The way defensive backs have bulked up, he might even be better.
Interesting that Kansas in that era produced three of the greatest athletes of all time: Sayles, Chamberlain, and Jim Ryan. Al Oeter and Barry Sanders weren’t bad either.
And I think the players then had more of a love of the game and were not as corrupted with $$$.
