If It Weren’t For Cable and Wireless

If it weren’t for C&W, then MoviStar would be the worst at providing cell phone service in Panama. I bought a new cell phone two days to insure that people that knew my old number could still get in touch with me. I was told on Monday it would be a matter of hours and the phone would be active on the old number. I had to pay an extra $15 to keep my old number.
Well it is now about 48 hours and the phone still is not working. I went by MoviStar yesterday about 4:30PM to see what the problem was. The sweet young lady that had sold me the phone recognized me when I walked in and called me by name and was very apologetic and said they were having problems with the system in Panama making the changes necessary for the new phone to respond to the old number.
She was so nice I could do nothing but ask if it would be ok today. She said “Claro”. She was so sure, I must be confused because I think it still isn’t working. I guess I will have to make another run down to the MoviStar office again this morning just so I can see her smiling face telling me she is sure it will be working any minute.

I might be a Pr*ck…but I LIVE by the half and half RULE, even here in the Wonderful USA! Half $ Now, the Half when the job is DONE!
Well, you won’t be able to do that with the wireless companies.
I know it ONLY works… if there is REAL competition among services, example won’t work: Utilities! I remember when I get scr*wed…because I scr*w back in one form or another!
Forgot About “THE GOVERNMENT” they are the worst!
So, Don Ray, while you are down at the MoviStar office why don’t you get a photo?
A friend of mine, by the way, is new to tech, and only recently purchased a computer. Then, he studied cameras for a long time, and finally picked one out. I asked him what he had acquired; when he told me, I directly him to your recent blog on the subject. You guessed it. Either quite a coincidence or great minds work alike.
I will try to remember to take camera when I return. I am sure that I have a photo of MoviStar some where, but I will get another. I have to go back at 4:00 they are still trying to get my phone active.
Last Friday I took up Movistar on their special offer of turning in your old TDMA cell phone (must be active with Movistar) and picked up a Nokia 1112 GSM phone for $10. They transfered my old number too, no charge. They said wait 24 hours to see if it worked OK. It worked OK in less than 6 hours. By the way the office with the cell phones is next to Romeros by the McDonalds.
Maybe this is karma for the better part of 2 days recently where my Movistar phone didn’t work because of some kind of network problems.
Now if I can only get a lower radiator hose for my 84 Toyota (11 trips to the parts store and still no hose).
You got the same phone I bought. It should not have taken as long for my phone either.
Have you gone to the toyota dealer? They carry more parts than the other places.
