Boquete will be flooded…

The Earth of the flowers and the coffee will be flooded but of Jazz, from the 2 to the 4 of February with the accomplishment of the First Opening Jazz Festival, a cultural event that it looks to promote Boquete in the province of Chiriquí in the Rep. of Panama as a cultural destiny; music, the plastic arts, the scenic arts can turn Boquete to a residence tourist destiny of artists of all parts of the world, that can find in Boquete the inspiration for their compositions, written or pieces of art.

Some artists have done of Boquete their residence this is case of Classic Guitarist Francisco Velasquez, who has found in Boquete inspiration to transmit his knowledge to hundreds of young people through the Gatma Group, that promotes the education of the Guitar free and where like at the medieval time, the knowledge is gone of Teacher to the apprentice.

Velasquez next to his Group Orquestal Gatma, will be part of the first version of the Boquete Jazz Festival participating of the Concert that is programmed for Sunday 4 of February in the Central Square of Boquete, known as Domingo Medica Park.

Other that has found inspiration in Boquete is Carlos Garnett, who is enamored with the Valley of the Flowers and the Coffee and dedicate a piece with the name “Lindo Boquete”, Garnett don’t live in Boquete, but has been enamored with the place, by his climate, his people and its natural beauty, is for that reason that this first version of the Festival will be dedicated to him that has motivated the love for Jazz in the Boqueteños.

The participation of local groups like Los Intelectuales and Blue Note Quartet Jazz and Chiricanos groups like Dubarran´s Jazz Trio and Tropical Jazz, will give to the festival a different touch from already known Panama Jazz Festival where great artists of the Jazz participate. The international touch will be given by Gianni Bardaro and his Quintet with the Sinestetic Jazz from Copenhagen, Denmark.

The event not only includes music, outstanding plastic artists have been united to mount collective in honor to the Maestro Carlos Garnett and which has denominated Panamoon Live, doing reference to one of the pieces of the Resurgence Album of Garnett. Manuel Montilla who coordinates the Collective, will give a paint to Maestro Garnett in his honor and 3 outstanding chiricanos artists have donated their works so that they are raffle with the assistants to both days of the Festival.

The new residents of Boquete, that have gotten up themselves quickly to the development of the community, are refurnishing the old Cumbre Theater for plays and cultural events, which will be one of the scenes of the Festival. This effort like others more in those than have participated the foreigners who have made Boquete their second home, fill them of enthusiasm.

The interested attending the Boquete Jazz Festival, can obtain their tickets in Boquete in: Bistro Opening and OASIS B&B, in David in Cocina Rica in Volcán in Pharmacy Don Bosco and Bocas in Super Gourmet.
