Restaurante El Rancho Gringo of David Meeting
Jan 11th, 2007 by Don Ray
I went to Panama City yesterday and was not sure I would make it back for today’s meeting. However, good fortune was with me and I made the meeting. The meeting today was held at the Restaurante El Rancho. I think I understood the waitress to say it had opened in July of 2006. I had not seen it before today.
The turnout today was pretty good. I think around 25 people attended. Sorry I didn’t get everyone in the photo. I will blame it on being tired.

Here are a couple more photos of the restaurant.

You can tell from the photos that this is a pretty large open-air restaurant. It has the potential of being a good place to meet. The menu had a lot of entrees, but it took my fourth try to get something that they actually had. It was spaghetti and I would rate it as fair. The prices were a little higher than some restaurants and I can’t say that they are appropriate because I didn’t get to try the dishes I ordered first. I ordered Diet Coke and they said they didn’t have any. Later I saw them serving Diet Coke in cans. Guess they just found it.
The restaurant had a large screen TV and I bet the place rocks when it is full of soccer fans.
As far as the space was concerned for a meeting in the daytime, it was great.

Who are the owners? Panamanians or Gringos?
I really don’t know.
>I know I’m weird but I really enjoy visiting with local business owners in foreign country’s to see how they operate. I picked up 100’s of business cards and brochures on my travels through Costa Rica, met all kinds of characters from all over the world. My favorite was a elderly Jewish fellow full blooded Columbian man who, speaks perfect english and spanish who owned a chain of restaurants in San Jose, I had to introduce my self after the elderly man started to CUSS at the TV set while watching Hugo Chavez give a speech in Spanish…I became a repeat customer, great food and conversation! The Dude escaped Bogata Columbia after his son was kidnapped SHOT and held for ransom he paid the extortion and fled to Costa Rica! Very successful!
There are plenty of stories to be told and listened to in this world.
