Women Helping Women Program - Programa Mujeres Ayudan A Mujeres
Jan 2nd, 2007 by Don Ray

On my plane flight from Panama City to David I was fortunate to meet Tom McCormack. Tom and his wife Linda are the founders of the McCormack Foundation. Here is a piece of the write-up on the Women Helping Women Program (Programa Mujeres Ayudan A Mujeres) that Tom and his wife founded that I copied from the US Embassy Website.
Mr. Tom McCormack, from Pennsylvania, is a volunteer beekeeper in Chiriquí (western province of Panama) five months per year. Over a period of 13 years, Mr. McCormack saw the consequences of women who underwent mastectomies with no opportunity for exterior breast prosthesis. His kindness and that of his wife, Linda, a teacher, resulted in the establishment of the Women Helping Women Program, Thomas L. and Linda J. McCormack Foundation. The Foundation was established to provide assistance to disadvantaged Panamanian victims of breast cancer.
This program, in David, is located at the Clinica de La Salud San Rafael Arcángel. They provide exterior breast prosthesis and wigs to women in need. The clinic has also provided foldable wheel chairs to people in need.
If you know of a Panamanian that is in need of these services, have them contact the clinic. They will be helped at no expense to them. I repeat. $0.00 is the cost to the individual. Now this is the true meaning of giving.
Tom and Linda, Chiriquí Chatter salutes you!
