INCA KOLA In David
Jan 2nd, 2007 by Don Ray
I am back in David. I had some business come up so I interrupted my time in Panama City for a few days. I will go back to Panama when I get things here taken care of.
With the icebox empty, I stopped at El Rey to pick up a few supplies. I was going to get some Diet 7-UP when I spied INCA KOLA. I think this is the second national drink in Peru right after the Pisco Sour.
I was introduced to INKA KOLA on my trip to Lima in 2005 (Photos in Photo Album). As it says on the can, this is a golden Kola and not a dark brown cola like Coke. This sells in Peru faster than any other soft drink and I never saw any advertisement for it. It sold so well that Coke could not compete. If you are as big as Coke and you are having trouble competing with some upstart Kola that you would think no one would have ever heard of or buy, what do you do.
Well you do what any company the size of Coke would do. You buy them. That is exactly what Coke did. I looked on the can to see where this can was manufactured and it did not say, but it did say “The Coca-Cola Company”. So remember, if you can beat them join them (or in Coke’s case buy them).

Coke a Cola is pretty ruthless and there dirty business tactics are pretty well documented. Especially in Costa Rica…Pepsi is almost un heard of, Coke has a monopoly. Try to buy a Pepsi in Atlanta? Forget about it! Coke is every where! I hate coke!
