MoviStar Is Down Again
Dec 11th, 2006 by Don Ray
This morning I tried to make a call and my phone infomed me that my last phone card had expired and I needed to add another. I just walked down th El Rey and bought a $5 card to reactivate my phone. Unfortunately between this morning and now, MoviStar decide to have network problems and I can’t make or receive calls.
Ah yes another adventure of life in the slow lane.

Didn’t notice any loss of service yesterday, Don but I did want to tell you about this bit of Movistar weirdness: on Sunday afternoon, both of our cell phones signalled that voicemail messages had been received. We checked in and found the messages just delivered were 7-10 days old - the earliest was from Nov. 30th! Huh?
Well, you didn’t expect immediate delivery did you. This is Panama.
The last time I tried my cell phone was about 7:00 last night. It was alive this morning.
It is only the GSM side of the MoviStar service that has been having problems.
7 to 10 days!?!? Even for Panama, that’s bad. I get snail-mail from “up there” quicker than that!
But the messages eventually got delivered. For MoviStar you have to consider that a success.
