Tis The Season

I really get a kick out of seeing the kiddos this time of year. They are the same in Panama as they were in the US. The other day, I was in ARROCHA and this little girl, about 5years old, was walking through the store carrying a doll in a box and singing Jingle Bells. If I had had my camera I would have loved to record her singing.
Here in David the stores that amaze me the most are the universal supermarkets. Here the supermarkets are one-stop shopping centers. Besides groceries, they also carry appliances, furniture and toys.
Many if not all stores are full of Christmas Carols, in Spanish of course. It was on one of my visits in my first year here that the combination of all the Christmas music, children wishing for their special gift and 91 degree temperature outside that inspired my poem Santa Comes To Panama. I hope you enjoy it.

Do they start Christmas in July like we do here in the states? Then by December 24′th your so sick of of Christmas you want to puke?
I may be wrong, but I think it started in October along with the Halloween promotions.
I’m liking Panama already!
I knew you would come around.
