Unable To Access Chiriquí Chatter
Nov 13th, 2006 by Don Ray
I feel certain that if you come to Chiriquí Chatter frequently, there is a good chance that sometimes it will not be accessible. I recently started using a couple of monitoring sites to notify me when the site is down. These sites are new to me, but anyone that manages a website will get some good information from them and might want to take a look at them.
The two sites I am currently using are:
http://www.montastic.com/ and http://mon.itor.us/
With both of these sites you provide them with the URL of the site you want monitored and a contact email address. Over the last two days, I have been using them and receiving emails when the site is down or temporally inaccessible.
Today when I received a couple of notices, I contacted my web host. I found out that it was having a problem with a run away spammer. My host informed me that this evening they would be bringing a dedicated mail server online to improve reliability. I hope they are successful.
Being an individual and since this is just a hobby, I can’t afford a high priced web host. Most of the times I get what I am paying for.
The purpose of this post is two fold. One to let you know if you can’t access the site, to try again later. Two, if you are running a website and want an idea of how your site access appears to you readers, you have some help on the net.

Hi Don:
Last night I did noticed that I couldn’t get through even though I tried several times.
Now I understand what happened. I’m glad to be back, since you always have goodies to entertain both the brain and the eyes.
Sorry about your IDAAN billing problems. Over here, IDAAN has done a great job for over twenty-six years without any errors. Fingers crossed.
Best Regards,
Omar.-
When one uses a low cost cost provider you have to put up with annoyances. I have had several outages today also. Usually in 10 minutes it is back up. Now that I have the monitoring services tell me when my site is not functioning I almost know more than I want to.
Maybe it is just me with IDAAN, but at least for me they are being pretty consistent.
Thanks for not giving up and leaving a comment.
