FireFox Problems
Nov 8th, 2006 by Don Ray
I have noticed a problem with FireFox the last few days. I am running the latest 2.0 version. It is refusing to load all of the images on all web pages. I first noticed it on some of the pieces in the sidebar of Chiriquí Chatter. I have another website that is also not completely displaying.
Both pages display in all other browsers. It acts like a caching problem, where it thinks what it needs is in cache and is not going to bring in a new copy. However, I have requested for it to clear cache and it has no effect. I am really baffled.
Update: I solved my problems by using the instructions on the following page.

I run both Firefox2 and IE7…I have encountered page loading discrepancies too. I will run my Yahoo Geo Cities web page in Firefox and about 20% of the page is missing (java scripts, WAV files), where in IE7 it works perfect. I read that Firefox, as great as it is…still doesn’t meet the ACID test standards that are accepted by web developers world wide. I use both browsers 50/50. Not sure if you will ever get your Firefox to run smooth until we ALL get further updates down the road from Mozilla.
This is a new problem for me. I neve had a problem with the previous version. I am having no problems with IE7, Opera, Netscape or Flock.
As an update, I just went through the instructions on the following page and it appears to have solved the problem.

Me, too. Thanks for the instructions, Don Ray. I had a weird problem with Firefox the other day. I updated my school website, then viewed it in Firefox. The update did not show in Firefox, but it changed perfectly in IE. I haven’t updated to IE 7 yet. I’m a little concerned about updating. Should I be? I’ve heard that there are still some problems with IE 7.
I didn’t have any problems with the upgrade. It is going to validate your system for being a valid system.
Clever test…no problems with my firefox
Hi Don:
I’ve been using Firefox 2.0 heavily lately and have not noticed any problems with images. If I happen to notice such problems, I know where the cure is.
Thanks for the tip.
BTW, the expected patch 1.5.0.8 promised by Flock did not happened today. Perhaps tomorrow. Will keep you posted at Lingua Franca.
Best Regards,
Omar.-
Firefox won’t execute, nor will Mozilla. They did before. I don’t know what I did, but would like to fix it. The .exe files are in place and when I click on it or the shorcut, a brief flash appears as though the system is trying to load, then nothing. Other browers work fine (Netscape, IE). Help!
I guess I am not sure what state you are in. If the browsers installed and afterward will not execute, I guess, I would uninstall using the control panel and then try installing again. If you are using the new netscape it is basically using the same engine as Firefox, so there no reason that Firefox shouldn’t work.
What operating system are you running and is it current on maintenance.
