Subject: Security Update - Demonstration
The US Embassy has learned that there will be a demonstration involving a group of protesters from the Canal Referendum, marching from the University of Panama towards the Plaza Cinco de Mayo around 4:00 p.m.We remind all Americans in Panama to drive safely, keep your doors and windows locked, and always drive with your cell phone (if available).
For the latest security information, Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department’s Internet web site at http://travel.state.gov/ where the current Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, Travel Warnings and Public Announcements can be found. Up to date information on security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the United States, or, for callers outside the United States and Canada, a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays). American citizens traveling or residing overseas are encouraged to register with the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate on the State Department’s travel registration website at https://travelregistration.state.gov/

Sounds like serious stuff? Over hyped or what?
No. Whenever there are protests in panama, it is wise to stay away from the area that the protests are being held. You could get a rock through the window or worse.
But you had earlier also warnings for you also in Europe I understood. I was thinking, it is surely hyperwarning and some kind of frightening for some a purpose of “someone”. I got that feeling about it.

Thes warnings about being cautious when the people are protesting are quite real. If I know they are going to be marching and protesting, I always give them plenty of room.
