Have Disk Can Travel
Aug 16th, 2006 by Don Ray
After my most recent problem with Windows XP that corrupted my hard drive, I decided I wanted a easy portable solution for backup. Actually, I wanted more than just backup, I wanted to be able to carry all my photos, and other files with me when I traveled. I effectively wanted the flexibility of having my entire system without needing to take a computer.
I had looked at a solution with Alex at INFOX and finally decided to buy it. This portable drive fits in my shirt pocket and holds a 80 GB laptop hard drive. It also requires no external power. You just plug in the USB cable into the drive and PC and you are good to go.
The case in the photo is about 4 ¾ inches long by 2 ¾ wide by ½ thick. I placed a dime at the left of the case for comparison. It came with the USB cable, a leather like carrying case and a CD incase you need to use it on a Mac, Linux or Windows 98 system. With all the photo files I have and all the other files I want available such as the Chiriqui Chatter files, I have exceeded the limits of my small 256MB USB flash memory.

I feel pretty good now about my data surviving the next Windows Blue Screen because I have disk and can travel.
