Turning the Pages
Jul 19th, 2006 by Don Ray
Among the things I did the last two weeks in Panama City was to visit three of my favorite authors.
The first book I read was “A Time To Kill” by John Grisham. John is one of my favorite authors and this was his first book. I have yet to read one of his books that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed.
The second book was “Brunswick Gardens” by Anne Perry. Anne is a period writer placing her characters in England in the 1800s. Her books are mysteries and you never know how it is going to end before about the last eight pages. This book’s main characters are Thomas and Charlotte Pitt. I have also read several of her Monk books.
The last book I read was Clive Cussler’s book “Trojan Odyssey”. I got to know the Clive Cussler books when I came to Panama in 2002 and spent a month getting my pensionado card. The first book I read was “Inca Gold”. It got me hooked. Since that book, Dirk Pitt and I have been good friends. I like Cussler’s books because they have a lot of action, are written in a humorous vain and are real page-turners.
For Dirk Pitt fans, this book brought several surprises that caught me off guard. I won’t go into them incase you are also a Dirk pit fan and haven’t read this book.
Three books with completely different executions in style, I guess it is about time to make another trip up to The BOOKMARK and restock my reading material.
