Business and Livestock Fair - Panama City
Jul 17th, 2006 by Don Ray
The day before I left Panama City, there was a business and livestock fair not too far from where I was staying and spent a couple of hours there. Here are some photos that will five you a little idea of what it was like. The exhibit area reminded me of the David Fair.
The fair primarily had booths promoting products, newspapers, new high rises, etc., but there were also several children’s activities. One that had a lot of interest was the face painting.

Here is a shot that shows the typical isle of booths that are being visited.

As you will see, most of the booths had attractive young ladies hawking the products. This lady was pouring cups of a yogurt drink. At the other end of the booth they were giving away ice-cream scoops.

Here is one of the technology-oriented booths.

There were several booths that had alcoholic products. This booth was giving out samples of Seco Ice.

If you have been to Óptica Lopez in David and wondered what happened to Dr. Sussan, here she is. She has moved to Panama City and is working for Óptica Lopez. This booth, was giving free eye exams and a free pair of colored contact lenses.

This booth was giving free Flor de Caña mixed drinks.

At the other end of the booth were Mr. T’s mixed drink samples.

Dos Pinos (a Costa Rican company) was giving out free samples of ice cream as well as a little entertainment for the kiddos.

This booth was showing MoviAlarm security devices.

This is another general booth photo.

Renault had cars on display.

The propane gas car conversions display was here just as it had been in the David Fair. I talked to a cab driver in Panama City that had mad the conversion and he said it had reduced his monthly expenses by ½. He said the conversion was being done for free for taxis and he thought was around $100 for individuals. I still don’t like the look of the tank being in the trunk.

The Business to Business booth didn’t seem to be getting too much activity.

I have absolutely no idea what this booth was promoting, but I felt compelled to take these two ladies’ photo.

GE had a large home appliance display.

Duran coffee was giving away coffee samples and tasty cookies. Too bad the camera focused on the background and not the lady in the front. She was a knockout.

I have no clue why I took this photo.

This was a cocoa drink booth and another kid favorite.

This lovely lady was giving a cooking demonstration using several of her company’s products.

This was a digital imaging booth.

And it you needed a little substance; there was a couple of booths set up to take care of you.

Volvo had a booth. You see several European cars in Panama City that you don’t see in other parts of Panama. Volvo, Audi, BMW, Mercedes are a few of them.

This booth by PanaClub was interesting. When I first looked at the fellow in silver I thought it was a statue. The sign on him says, “Don’t Touch – It Breaks”.
He would wait till some unsuspecting person was staring at him and they he would go through some mechanical moves. He was very good. He fooled me.

Leaving the internal exhibits there were these two fellows playing Peruvian music. I listened and dropped some change in their hat.

On the outside there were some livestock exhibits.

Here is one of the many Pacific Ocean view condominium constructions going on.

The exhibits were across the street from the Caesar Park hotel.

This is a view looking along the front of the exhibition center that shows a couple older high rises. These will soon have their view to the ocean cut off by new construction.

This is a view of the exhibition center.

Right before I headed back to the apartment, there was a parade with some dancing horses.

Here is a short video of one of the horses strutting his stuff.
