Dallas Couldn’t Stand The Heat
Jun 21st, 2006 by Don Ray
Dallas just could not beat Miami. Last night ended the series and Miami won its first NBA Championship title.
While it was a defeat for Dallas, it was a partial success for me. I was following the game on the USAToday and Dallas Blog websites. Around halftime, the Dallas Blog posted a photo of an individual in New Zealand that was watching the game on the Internet.
I sent a message to the Dallas Blog asking how he was accomplishing it. They sent me his email address for me to write him.
I wrote him and he sent me a URL to download a program called TVUPlayer. I downloaded it and one of the channels it had was ABC, which was carrying the game.
The quality of the picture left a lot to be desired, but at least I was now watching a live broadcast of the game. I am not sure what the problem was that kept my picture from being better. According to MyVitalAgent, I wasn’t receiving much download data.
Much of the time I had a fair amount of pixilation and sometimes I had a clear picture. Nonetheless it was a good experiment in receiving television over the Internet.
This morning I did a little Googling and came up with a better site that is providing a perfect picture. I wish I had figured it out sooner. This site is WwiTV (World Wide Internet TV).
Now if Dallas ever gets into the finals again, I am ready. Course by then, half the world’s population will probably have moved to Mars.
