Birds Of A Feather Flocking at David’s El Fagón

The Yahoo Group “Gringos_in_David_Panama · Gringos living in David, Panama” will be having a get to know one another get together tomorrow at the El Fagón restaurante-bar in David. Shirley’s original Yahoo invitation follows:
Members are invited to the El Fogón restaurante-bar, in David, on Thursday the 15th of June for our first monthly get together. We will meet at 7pm. Hopefully this will be the first of many. On the calendar it is scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of every month. Hope to see you there!!

If you live near the David area or are going to be in the area send Shirley an email (Via the Yahoo Group) and tell her if you plan to attend. Shirley is the founder of the sponsoring Yahoo group. If you need directions to El Fagón, Colin’s directions follow:
Avenida 1 Central
David the Avenidas run SouthWest/NorthEast, the Calle run at right angles SouthEast/NorthWest
To make sense of this:
Avenida 1 is a One Way, running SouthWest towards Pedregal and Airport direction.
El Fogón is on your Left, the other side of road is the Hotel Nacional Cinema. El Fogón has a sign but the Cinema is a larger building and signed.
From the main square in David, Parque de Cervantes, Face the Church
1. On your right is Calle B Norte, one way heading behind the Church; THIS is the direction you want (Left hand is one-way wrong direction)
2. Go 2 blocks, turn Left, direction of Avenida 1 Norte
3. El Fogón a little way along on your left (possibly 2 blocks)
From Panama:
On the Interamerica Highway as you run into David
1. On your right hand you will see Supermercado Rey and Farmacia ARROCHA, getting close. 1 block now.
2 On your left you are passing Super Baru, other side of road is Shell station, TURN Left immediately passed Super Baru.
3 Now heading into David, keep going a fair way.
4 On your right Romera supermarket, keep going
5. On your right a gas station then Banco Nacional, keep going
6. Now getting close. On your right is a 2 story building with MOVISTAR displayed
7. On your right immediately after Movistar are right turns, go half right, not hard right
8 Should have Bambol (shop) on right, and some open cafeteria thing on left
9 If this is so, you are on the one way Avenida 1 and surprisingly enough doing well. El Fogón a few blocks along the road…dare I say you cannot miss it on your left (Hotel Nacional on right)
25. Give the wife the directions so you can blame her when hopelessly lost.

I am still under the weather, so it is unlikely that I will be able to attend, but you never know.

Just found your posting and wanted to say hi. I’m back in Ft Myers and can’t wait to get back to Panama.
If you remember me, I am the one with the property on Rio Gariché about 35 min. west of David. I’m developing it for the “not-so-well-off” retirees, like myself.
Can you advise me as to where I might post our info on the project so I can get as much “constructive critisim” as possible.
Hope all is well–I think the last time we talked you were having a pool built–did it get completed?
