Cable Onda vs. Cable and Wireless For Internet In David

In February, Cable Onda had a special running for a big discount in the cable TV and also a good promotion for the Internet. I run C&W 256 service for my Internet connection and it has erratic performance. I never get my full bandwidth on download and sometimes it is just like having dialup because their modem quits responding. I have to go into the repair mode of Windows and request it to reset the IP address.
My neighbor has also been using C&W and he decided to try the promotion that Cable Onda was offering. While I had been considering the same, I decided to wait until his service was connected and let him be the test case. Shame on me!
Today, my neighbor told me to hold off on Cable Onda. His speed during some periods of the day just isn’t acceptable. He said the installer had told him that the run was a long way from the corner and it would reduce speed. I really thought cable speed was a manifestation of how many users were on cable at the same time. He is going to give them a month to solve their problems and if it doesn’t improve then he will use C&W.
He would have used C&W to start with except they said they couldn’t provide the service. Another neighbor here had C&W for 9 months before C&W would provide it to me. Go figure. C&W had promised me that they would upgrade my service to 512 in December. It isn’t here yet.
My advice to anyone considering Cable Onda, C&W or any other Internet provider is to have a clear statement in your contract about the level of service and bandwidth you will be provided. Then if that level of service is less than what was contracted for you will have some legal basis for terminating the contract. Just check with others in your area, that might be using the provider you are considering, and make sure you aren’t jumping from the frying pan into the fire if you change providers.

Cable Onda and C&W? wich one is better? I don´t know how is the service in chiriqui but here in panama city, cable onda has a good perfomance refered to speed, but when we talk about their costumer service & support they are really bad.
Well maybe the best way to decided bettween Cable onda or C&W is trying them…
For now, I do not know. I looked at the quality of the instalation of the cable runs that Cable Onda did and they were far superior to Cable & Wireless.I will know performance after my neighbor has it for a while longer. Until I see an improvement, I am not going to change.
