Crashed At The Finish Line
Mar 6th, 2006 by Don Ray
For some reason I wanted to see who won the Academy Awards last night. I guess it is because I heard that John Wayne was found, lying face down in Heaven in an almost paralyzed stupor. Two angels were talking and one had asked the other what the matter was with the Duke. One angel said he had been so happy the past few days after hearing that a western was in the running for the best picture and he had just learned the theme of the movie.
At the finish line some movie called Crash, came in the winner. I haven’t heard much about it, but I guess I am going to have to rent it when it hits Blockbuster. Philip Seymour Hoffman (one of my favorite actors) won best actor as author Truman Capote in “Capote”. I was also happy to see Reese Witherspoon take best actress for her performance as June Carter Cash. Two shows I will have to rent when they are here on DVD,
I really was frustrated when I found the channel for the Awards and it was in Spanish. I spent several minutes watching it in this mode while cursing under my breath. Then I noted those three little letters on the bottom right of the screen (SAP). Second Audio Program – now do you think that Panama might actually have the English sub channel running under SAP.
I dashed into the menu and activated SAP and what do you know, ENGLISH. All this time I have had that feature turned off. I wonder how many other times I have passed up a show because I didn’t want to tax my brain listening to Spanish. Now I realize I was the SAP for not using the full capability of the television.
