David Shopping Center

I never seem to have a day that I don’t learn something new. Yesterday, I was asked if I wanted to go to the shopping center. My reply was “Which one?” The reply I got back was there is only one. I replied, I think there are several, Chiriqui Mall, Plaza El Terronal, etc.
I got back, “No, there is only one Shopping Center.” Ok, I am game, you show me where it is. And off we go to the main shopping street in downtown David. Sure enough when we got there, there was a store called (you guessed it) Shopping Center. Here is a photo. You can see the yellow sign with the name. Now to me in the states, I would think that shopping center was generic and described an area with multiple shops. In David it is a specific store in downtown.

It is a nice store with multiple levels and tons of clothes for the youngest to the oldest. It had a waterfall-designed wall that I took a photo of.

I would have take more, but gringos in stores taking photos draw attention.
The street where you find the Shopping Center contains many stores with street side displays and barkers enticing you to enter their store and lighten the weight of your wallet.

Here is a photo of Brazil on the same street, which carries many appliances and furniture.

However if you really want to find nice looking furniture, I suggest you go to the new Furniture City in Plaza El Terronal. I walked through there yesterday and they have some nice looking furniture. I particularly like some of the leather sofas. I noticed that a lot of their furniture came from Indonesia and China (doesn’t everything these days).

Great pics from Calle 4 - I’ve come to call it Discount Alley, although the Shopping Center is an exception to the discount/liquidation rule. I’ve found alot of weird and wonderful things in those stores. Was in the area this morning and it was absolutely packed! Back to school shoppers AND many stores were offering 50% off - everything!
By the way, the Do-It Center opens for business Thursday, March 9. Cheers!
You are a natural born shopper!
Are their any other furniture stores in David other than furniture city. We just bought a home in Volcan and will need everything from chairs, sofa, lamps, dining table, etc. New to Panama and don’t have a clue where to go. Help!!
Casa Gala has some furniture. I have to admit, theat there are more stores in Panama City.
For some things, I have seen a carpenter in David build some bedroom furniture that was outstanding. He was presented with a photo of what the person wanted and he just created it. Amazing.
