Power Outages Twice (Make that Three Times) In The Last Hour
Mar 4th, 2006 by Don Ray
If you run a PC in Panama and do not run under the protection of a good UPS you run the risk of getting to upgrade PCs earlier than you had planned on.
Luckily I have both PC on their own separate UPS, so I feel reasonably safe. Even as I write this I can hear the UPS cutting in and out indicating that the voltage coming into the house is fluctuating.
This has been the worst day for power in some time. I hope it stabilizes now.
In Fact it just went out again. I guess I better shut down.
Well an hour later it came on. While it was out, I went to El Rey and it is closed for the day. El Rey is having some problem with its electrical plant. Makes me wonder if my power problems have anything to do with El Rey’s problems. They said they would be open tomorrow.

Life outside the U.S. We had plenty of power outages when we lived in Cairo and Jakarta (Cairo had more). However, even living just west of Houston, my UPS lets me know we often have very short term power outages.
Glad to hear you’re running reliable UPSs.
I certainly wouldn’t use a PC here without a good UPS. Funny, the theme I am using for WordPress is “Jakarta” because the person that wrote it lived there.
The power outages yesterday were city-wide, not just in El Terronal. Friends reported that in their area (near the Mae Lewis Hospital) they were without power for several hours…
I guess I will not blame El Rey. Thanks for the update.
