This is the latest “sign” (literally) that Supermercado REY will open next week. Don’t forget to sign up for the new Punto de ORO cards that are being issued in the parking lot. These are a modern version of what I remember as “green stamps” when I was kid.
If you have a Punto de ORO card, every purchase you make at REY earns puntos (points). I remember my mom collecting “green stamps” when she went to the grocery store. After she had several books of stamps she would go to the “green stamps” store and redeem them for some wonderful gift like a toaster. My mom got “green stamps” and I will get “gold points”. Somehow, “gold points” sounds better.
Gosh, the good ole days are upon us.
