Where Were You 42 Years Ago Today?
Nov 22nd, 2005 by Don Ray
Robert Jones knows where he was 42 years ago today. Do you? I was on my way to class at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. When I got to the class I was told that “The President has been shot”.

42 years ago (my god is it really 42 years ago???) I was working in my office at the Physics Department at UC Berkeley when someone ran into my office and screamed “the president’s been shot!” There was pandamonium all over the building until they finally pronounced him dead, then I think we all just kind of left. I remember walking by the Campanile and seeing little huddled clumps of people all in a daze. I don’t remember ever seeing the campus so “still.” We spent the whole weekend glued to the TV and were riding in the car back from breakfast at the Pancake Queen in Oakland, witwh the radio on, when we heard the report of Jack Ruby shooting Oswald.
Surreal time. Kennedy had just visited UC Berkeley about 2 weeks before and I passed up the opportunity to go and see him.
Yes, it is a day that everyone remembers. We can only wonder what the world would be like today if he had not been killed.
I was still living my past life
Ha ha. I wish I could say that, but I was living this life.
