Take A Cab Dummy!
Nov 21st, 2005 by Don Ray
I met with Darío Quiroz for lunch to discuss a project he has asked if I would help him with. Besides teaching his normal English class, he also has a class he teaches in Universidad Latina. This class is one for students learning to be translators. He is going to use me as the ultimate test of his students (seeing if they can translate Texan into Spanish). We agreed on some topic areas for me to speak on and his students will translate for the rest of the class members. This will require a little preparation time for me, as speaking and then waiting for a translator to translate can be a little tricky. I have done this in the past speaking to Japanese clients and you just have to remember to say a sentence and then pause for the translation. The big problem is not losing your train of thought while the translation is going on.
Well back to the title of this post. It was such a beautiful day today when we ended our meeting after lunch I decided to walk home. By the way, thanks for lunch Darío. Anyway, I have had several people tell me I needed to get more exercise lately, so why not today. However, now that I am home I am asking myself “Hey dummy; why didn’t you take a cab?”
Since I had my camera with me I took a few photos along the way. That allowed multiple pauses for the heart rate to reduce to normal. I am going to put the photos in a separate posts to prevent this post from taking too long to download. I wonder if I need a nap first?
