Cable & Wireless (aka Cable & Worthless)
Nov 18th, 2005 by Don Ray
After learning yesterday that today (18-11-2005) at 10am the Cantina La Costena at Playa La Braqueta (las Olas area) was to be releasing the turtle hatchlings, which is an annual event, I changed my plans for today in order to go see this event.
I figured to be there and not have any problems I would need to leave here at 9:00am. This morning at 8:00am, my new plan started falling apart. Cable & Wireless called to say that they were going to install telephone service for a new neighbor and I was the contact since he is currently in Costa Rica. They said they would be here promptly at 9:00am.
Since this is a trivial task, I figured that I could let them in; they would take 10 minutes to do their thing, and I could still make the annual ceremony. Nine o’clock arrives and no C&W. Nine-thirty and no C&W. Ten o’clock and no C&W. Ten-thirty and they are still are not here. To me it is irresponsible to call at eight and say you are going to be somewhere at nine and then not show up. I am a little more tolerant when they say something like it will be in the morning or the afternoon. I understand that they never know what may happen to their schedule.
So you can blame C&W (henceforth known as Cable and Worthless) for not seeing any photos of this procession of the turtle hatchlings heading out to sea. I understand that they will eventually return to the exact location that they were released from, but if I see one return now, I won’t recognize him, not having seen him leave. I never forget a face even if it is a turtle.

We also call it “CLUE-LESS and Wireless”!!!
By the way…,the new look of your blog is great!
Thanks for the post. Glad you like the new look.
