Don’t Try To Teach A Pig To Sing

When arguments come as they sometimes do,
I remember my dad telling me something, which I’ll tell to you.
He’d say, “Don’t try to teach a pig to sing”.
Why not I’d ask – “Cause a pig can’t sing”.
And following up, he’d say, and this point is big.
“Trying to teach it annoys the pig”.
Being slow, I missed the point.
I’d argue till my jaw was out of joint.
I’d argue and argue, cause I knew I was right,
Never realizing I was perpetuating the fight.
Today, I get it cause I just realized,
And for being a pig, I apologize.
