Without Words

Without Words
By Don Ray Williams (9/97)

Where have all the words gone?
Have they all been used up?
How will she know I love her?
If there is nothing but silence

She will know from my smile,
And the warmth of my touch,
And the twinkle in my eye,
And the feeling one can sense from a true friend.

So words don’t have to be spoken.
They can be thought, and they can be felt,
For could two people who are deaf
Or mute not be in love

Love is more than hearing “I love you”
It is more than saying “I love you”
It comes from within
And lasts forever.
